I have a new Mac Mini, used HDMI cable, and a new HP Display. When walking from sleep the display is pink, like not all the colors are working. If you put the Mac to sleep and wake it up again it comes back just fine. Also, it seems like the display is turning off, but every once in a while the "monitor going to sleep" box come up on the screen for no reason.

Im asking for someone else, I'm just hoping to diagnose and fix with one trip, so Im looking for ideas on what to do before I go over to look at it.

Thanks

So I checked out the Mac Mini myself, and I haven't got the pink screen yet, but the Mini will go to sleep, then the HP Monitor will just constantly flash the "Monitor Going To Sleep" message every few seconds. Is this a bad monitor maybe?

I just had the pink screen after waking up my MacMini.
Never happened before, but I only have for three days.

Hopefully it's nothing serious. ;(

I exchanged the mini for a new one, the pink seemed like it went away but the monitor still kept going to sleep. So I also exchanged the monitor. Didn't test enough to know if it was a tally the mini or the monitor though.

Are you not aware of the HDMI issue? Supposedly a fix is coming soon. Well Known problem on the new mini's

The HDMI issue I am aware of is black or snowy screens, I haven't heard about getting a pink screen. Although it could be related.

Lets us know if you are still having issues after your exchange...

I'm debating on upgrading to the new mac mini, but kinda waiting to see how all these HDMI issues play out...hopefully the upcoming fix will solve all.

Well, this one was exchanged back in march and has been running flawlessly since then, but its a 2011. I just got a new mini, 2012, and it doesn't get much use at all. But, in the little I've used it, I have not had one black screen or snowy screen like others are talking about.

I see the 10.8.2 update is now available, supposed to address video issue.

I am having this problem with a 2012 Mini and and HP monitor 2311xi when I am connected to the Thunderbolt port. If the Mini is put to sleep, the monitor begins to flash "Monitor Going To Sleep" and then it will flash "No signal" in the Status box, and then the Mini hard drive will wake up again.

Are you connected to the Thunderbolt port? This doesn't happen to me when coming out of the Mini HDMI port.

It was when using HDMI.
