Wow!!

I just came back from Costco and they have Mac Minis in a small package with includes keyboard and mouse. Just wanted to let everyone know.

Before you know it Apple will start advertising it's Macintosh Computers to people that don't already have one!

Hmm... interesting.

If only I knew what a Costco was ... I have heard of it, though. I think it is like a Sam's Club?

Was it the Intel Mac mini or the PowerPC one? How much was their package deal? Did it have an Apple keyboard, or did you happen to see what else it would have had with it?

Were the minis being displayed or just in boxes, ive seen the G5 imacs at costco but not the mini. For some reason I dont like the way costco displays their computers (at least at my costco) they but bios passwords on all the computers and when I checked out the imac it has a password on it too. I think its just stupid how the go through the trouble of hooking up and plugging in the computers but not let people use them.

thats awesome...I just hope that apple doesnt become tooo mainstream...the exclusiveness of the company very appealing.

Well, I hope this helps people take an interest in the DashMini, well does anyone know about how many Mac Minis were sold since they started (Intel and Non-Intel)? Well, I am glad everyone has access to the Mac Mini Now :)

At my Costco, they password-protected all of the Windows PCs, but the Mac didn't have a password (or any other security). I thought that was pretty cool because if someone wanted to use a computer they were forced to use the Mac. :)

Also the Costco Retun policy is amazing. I wish i didnt buy my Macbook Pro now and just waited till costco has them. But it seems they are selling models which apple doesnt sell now. So they probably brought the left overs from Apple. Maybe 15" Powerbooks will show up soon.

Ok I went back to COSTCO...

It is amazing deal atleast I think so.

Mac Mini 1.42/512/80/SUPERDRIVE/ BT KEYBOARD + MOUSE / AND APPLECARE 3yr

PRICE?!?! $699!!!
If you break it down you get the Mac Mini Superdrive for $500
EDU discount on applecare $99 Keyboard & Mouse $100

Well i think this is a great deal, yes it is a G4 but if you check Ebay/ Craiglist ect people are paying $500 for Combo drives without Applecare with a usb keyboard and mouse. I am selling my Combo to buy this.

Also they have g5 Imac 2.0ghz 20" for 1494 with applecare 250 HD dont remember the ram...

Both have passwords like the Windows machines at the westbury store in ny. But the Wireless mouse and Keyboard werent chained down.

I guess you have to be a member but if anybody on Long Island i can meet you at the westbury one get you one... I am going to pick up one this weekend when my MacMini is gone. But then again with their Return policy might just get it now.

That is a good deal. I would promptly sell the BT keyboard and mouse, though. I wonder if they are the 1.5GHz G4's with 64MB VRAM. The serial number on these is typicall YM536 or higher.

The thing with the silently upgraded mini's is that they are very very silent. I was at Fry's and checked the reported CPU speed and it was indeed a 1.5GHz G4. I looked at the serial number on the bottom and I saw that it also had the specs printed on the label (Apple label, not Fry's). The machine was stamped as a 1.42GHz. My mini is the same, the bottom shows it to be 1.42 but it is a 1.5. That is until I overclocked it to 1.75.

I saw them at my local Costco a couple of weeks ago, but they were G5 iMacs.

The G4 Mac minis never came with 64 MB of video RAM--only 32.

You are mistaken.

In September 2005 Apple quietly updated the specifications of the Mac Minis they were shipping without changing the model number or the official specifications. The actual specs of the updated top end machines were 1.5GHz G4 with 64MB video RAM althought the published specifications listed 1.42GHz G4 with 32MB video RAM.
