mac mini keeps crashing

Hi,

I've just bought a dual core mini, so pretty new to Mac OSX. I've set up itunes and downloaded firefox and azereus. However when I leave my mini on to download, firefox, azereus and itunes library disappear. This is the second day I've had to download and reinstall. Please help before my cute mini goes out the window and I lovingly restore my pc.

I think you need to be a little more specific before anyone can help you. What do you mean they disappear. The programs disappear from your applications folder? What are you downloading? Please describe your problem in more detail and we can try to help

Firefox completely disappeared from the applications folder.Azereus did the same. Itunes is still there, but asks to reinstall itself, of course when I did the library was blank so looks like I'll have to copy everything back in there.

Any help appreciated.

ok we are getting there but you are still not giving any specifics. Try to describe what occurred in detail. for all i know you could have dragged them into the trash.

Long shot but did you rename the home directory?

The mini had been in 'sleep mode'. When I could see the desktop I opened itunes from the dashboard it loaded and it was blank, the library was empty and the podcasts which I had downloaded the day before were gone.

Firefox was not in the dashboard where I left it the night before and when I looked for it in applications it wasn't there either. The same for azereus and the same for vlc player.

Your confusing the Dock for the Dashboard. Dock is at the bottom of your screen. Dashboard appears when you hit F12.

You didn't rename your home folder by any chance did you? Also, since this is your first Mac ever in history, maybe take it easy before rushing to downloading Firefox (unnecessary - this isn't Windows) and Azereus, presumably illegal software and/or movies with Azereus and changing your system in any significant way.

Get to know your Mac first.

i dont know about itunes. but maybe for the other programs you never installed them on the computer and were just running them off the disc images that you download. Did you ever drag them to the applications folder or install them via a .pkg file?
