Hello Everyone!

I recently purchased a 2012 Mac Mini with the intention of using it to perform live music through MainStage. I purchased the Mini, upgraded to a Samsung 840EVO SSD, and got the computer all up and running. It ran flawlessly for a little over a month, but just recently I've been having constant kernel panics, happening roughly once every few hours or so. The computer simply restarts without notice, and then pops up with an error that says "Your computer restarted because of an error."

I have reviewed the log, but can't make heads or tails of what might be causing the problem (I notice a few things by Avatron and Focusrite, but I'm not sure how to remove either of these). The panics only happen when running my whole live music setup (which includes: AKAI MPK88 Keyboard Controller (USB), Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 Interface (FW), Ethernet Cable (To Screen Share), Mac Mini Display Dongle (to activate the GPU) and a Logitech Mouse).

The panics only happen when running this setup, but I hardly use the computer for anything else so it's quite hard to say. I'll paste the kernel log here - if anyone has any solutions or ideas, please let me know! I would appreciate all the help that I can get. :)

Andrew

I think you should check that the software for your external devices is up-to-date.
Soundflower appears to be good.
The Avatron software may not be current, check at their site for updates to the software.
Finally, your Saffire Pro 40 driver might to be old, but it's hard to tell. Check to be sure at their site. Maybe this page will help… http://us.focusrite.com/downloads?product=Saffire+PRO+40

Thanks for the suggestions! I do have the latest drivers for the Focusrite, but the funny thing is that I tried to get rid of Air Display (by Avatron) a while back - but apparently was unsuccessful. Any idea how I can completely uninstall the driver?

Test for hardware issues. Install memtest, boot in single user mode and run it to test if you have a RAM issue. Run multiple passes. RAM errors can be tricky.

If that doesn't show a problem, I suppose you could run the Apple hardware test or diagnostics or whatever it's called, depending on the machine you have.

Thanks for the answers everyone! Ran MemTest and found no RAM errors. I also got rid of AirDisplay and will see if it crashes. If so I'll target Soundflower next.

Anyone know if you can boot into Apple Hardware Test using a bluetooth keyboard, or through terminal? I've searched the web and haven't found an answer (since it's headless I don't have a designated keyboard for the machine). I'll figure out a way though. ;)

Thanks everyone! Will update soon.

It will work with a BT keyboard.

I'm suddenly getting kernel panic and refusal to boot on a 2010 mac mini server than I have had for 3 years with no problems whatsoever.
