Hey!
I just ordered a second screen to use with my m1 Mac mini but im reading about a lot of problems. My current HP S240uj will only work over HDMI fine, but over USB C it won't transfer the audio. Thats kind of confusing because with my intel MacBook everything works fine and I thought the HDMI port on the Mac mini m1 was the one port creating problems.

Are any users here with a successful dual monitor setup on the M1 Mac mini ?

Kind regards!

So Calif
Mine is great with:
Apple Thunderbolt 27" w/ TB3-TB2 Apple adapter (QHD)
Asus 28" via HDMI direct (FHD)

IMG_6574.jpg

Sound is thru a Klipsch 3 speaker 200W powered audio speakers.

Can't stand the sound thru the built in Apple display or built in Asus speakers.

Sorry for the multiple posts. I’m having problems running an iPad Pro to a Dell monitor and Logitech keyboard. What I was going to say I plan to run two monitors once my MacMini arrives. I’ll update then.

I have two Dell U2719D. I can confirm that the HDMI audio works for me and both monitors works just fine.

Do you mind telling me how do you have them connected ? I plan to use my HP as my main monitor over HDMI and a Dell P2421D will be arriving in a few days. Should I use USB C to HDMI or USB C to DisplayPort for my second monitor?

I sometimes do get some pink squares on my screen over HDMI, but this seems to be more of a cable/cablelength problem to be.

One of them is connected via an HDMI to HDMI cable. Another one is HDMI to USBC. I believe the sound is sourced from the monitor that has HDMI to HDMI cable.

I didn’t think to much of it. Since I already have the monitors and I had a HDMI to USBC already. Hence that was the setup.

As for the pink square I recalled seeing it once when I got the mini. I haven’t seen it since. I don’t know if it’s because of something that I did.

Thank you! Yea I get the pink squares the first time rebooting after a new cable is put in and that's it.

Oh I love it as my second monitor in vertical orientation. Colours are more vibrant in comparison to my main HP S240uj. Works perfectly with the M1 over Displayport. Definitely would get a second one of the Dells if my HP would stop working. Maybe its worth it looking in to the Dell P2421DC if you want to connect one via USB-C.

Is it possible to connect it over HDMI and see if there are any problems , like flickering, not waking from sleep etc?
Also, what about resolution ? Are the letters too small or are you using scaling?

Both my monitors work fine over HDMI/USB-C to Displayport. I've gotten the "pink squares" over HDMI like twice, when connecting them the first time, but everything went smoothly after. The HP monitor can be connected via USB-C directly, but it has some problems with the audio output on the monitor, so im using HDMI. So for me only the direct USB-C connection has a problem. Wake up from sleep works via every cable, flickering was never seen.

Both displays are 1440p on 23.8". For me its the sweet spot between letter size, workspace and display size(I use no scaling). I won't suggest getting a 1080p display at this size and maybe recommend 4k for 27"/32" but I have no experience in that field.

I have dual monitor's with a Mac Mini M1. I have problems quite often when waking from a display sleep. Usually only the one screen comes up. I have them connected one via the HDMI connection and the other via an apple adapter that goes from the thunderbolt usbc to a HDMI and usb C and USB A connection. Occasionally they both power up but most times the one monitors does not. If I reboot they work fine. Quite annoying. I do not have it sleep ever but the do have the displays go off to save power. Dell Monitors. Did not have these issue with the intel mini. Definitely some work still to be done.

Got my Mac mini m1 today.
I have to the same monitors - LG 27UL850 (well, the second one is lg 27uk850-w).

So far no issues with waking it up hmmm but I saw another two issues:
1. can't use software to adjust the display brithness. Kinda annoying :)
2. one is connected via HDMI, second one via usb-c. The one with usb-c have quit different colours, more Gray I would say. Since I can't connect both with the same cable - I'm not sure where is the issue :D
