I've recently upgraded to a Mac Mini with M1 chip, I love it, but...
it will not recognise any SD card I throw at it, either through a camera USB cable or through the USB type C card reader.
I've tried everything I can think of. I've checked all the boxes in Finder preferences, re-named cards, investigated Disc Utility. It remains stubbornly elusive. When I renamed the card it worked for about 30 seconds and then vanished, so I figure it's solvable. Am I going to have to wait for an update? Or is there a workaround that anyone may found.
This is vexing, as I use my Macs for a lot of photography.

Could it be the card reader you're using?

What happens if you do this:
1. Connect card reader with card (whether it shows on the desktop or not)
2. Open disk utility
3. Go to the view menu and choose "show all devices"
4. Can you see the card in disk utiity?
5. IF you can, can you erase it?

thanks for your response, much appreciated. Sadly it just won't show up, either on desktop or in disk utility 'show all devices'. I've tried 4 different sd cards, including a micro sd card, with no luck.
