My soon to be 9 year old son is a big fan of Roblox at the moment. But we only have 1 Windows laptop. It interferes when I need to use it and he's playing Roblox.

My alternatives are a cheap Windows laptop from a private seller, Chromebook or what I want for my son is a M1 Mac Mini. The Chromebooks I'm looking at will be around the same price as the Mac Mini M1. I have missed using a Mac. I used to have a Macbook in 2006.

I just want good performance when he's playing Roblox. Don't worry he has time limits just when I was growing up and my mom set time limits on playing my Nintendo games. ?

Sadly Roblox runs under Rosetta 2 and is not a native application with Apple Silicon. Hopefully one day soon.

If I do decide to get M1 Mac Mini what monitors do you recommend to buy?

By the way he will not only be using it for Roblox. School work as well.

Thanks for any good feedback.

Honestly, I would just buy the kid the Mac Mini. I can't speak about Roblox but if that game plays as well as some of the other games I've played on the M1 through Rosetta 2, you'd be golden. As far as monitors go, I'd check out Acer's refurbished store on eBay, they have some solid 1080p monitors that are like new.

Thanks for the feedback! Great tip on Ebay too! I will be purchasing a M1 Mac Mini.

My 11 year old daughter plays Roblox on a 2009 27” IMac and she has no issues with playing the game at all - it works perfectly, and she’s not limited in any way. I’m not sure you need a Mac Mini for Roblox and schoolwork - unless you just want a Mac mini and that’s different ? (and I say go for it)
