I have the M1 MacBook Air and I will just note that you won't need Mac Fan Control anymore. The M1 Air doesn't get warm at all and there is no fan in it. Also I think we are waiting on an update for Istat Menus for the Temp sensors. The only Temp mine reports currently is the SSD temperature

I picked up my M1 Air last night and have spent probably 6-8 hours total working with it so far. Updated it to the latest version of Big Sur and started installing my Apps and copying over data. At one point I was downloading Big Sur and copying over about 200 Gb of data from my external HD and the system never heated up. I didn't check to see how much free space it had at boot. I bought the 1Tb drive so was not really worried about it. So far I am pretty impressed with this Laptop. It's very responsive and very cool.
