Been checking the forums and haven't seen anything up to date on this question. Thinking about getting the new 2012 base mini to replace my dying Mac Pro. Couple questions.

1) to just rip and encode movies will 4GB ram be enough? No multitasking just one app at a time.

2) going to need an external enclosure for my Blu ray I'm taking out of the Mac Pro. Should I get USB 2 or 3? Any suggestions on the case?

Side question. Now any good HDMI switchers with a remote?

1. 4 GB is plenty. No need for more.

2. USB2 is perfectly fine. It's bandwidth is faster than any BD can read, so that's the limiting factor on ripping.

I have a BYTEC USB2/FW400 that is no longer made (2 years old) but this one ought to do just fine:
