Hi

I've just bought a Mac Mini and am planning to run it as a media centre. I'm connecting it up to a 2 year old Samsung LCD TV(40 inch, Model No-LE40N87). Video is looking fantastic (connected via Mini DVI to DVI converter then DVI to HDMI cable.

My issue is that I can not get audio to play through the TV. I am connecting audio via the audio out (3.5mm jack) on the Mini to the "PC in" connection on the TV.

But I don't know how to tell the TV to take video from HDMI and audio from the 3.5mm jack.

Any suggestions ?
Please!

Hi,

You are not getting audio because the TV is looking for audio from the HDMI jack (which the mac mini doesn't support) you need to take the audio straight to your sound system or if you don't have one i think you can use a toslink cable (probably below lol)

Check Connector on TV

I have a similar TV, but can only use the PC Audio jack when I have a DVI cable plugged in (my TV has a separate DVI port). I also have an HDMI port that will link up to RCA Audio connections. My primary HDMI port will only use audio from that cable.

Check your TV manual. It is likely you will need to just use a specific port on the television to utilize the PC Audio jack.

I'm having an audio issue as well. I have the video(hdmi) connected directly to my tv and audio(toslink adapter) to the optical on my Sony soundbar. The mini's video is fine, but audio, randomly, doesn't work.

DVI doesn't transmit sound(it's not REALLY HDMI since it's converting it). You have to use one of the 2 audio jacks in the back connected to a separate receiver. I connect mine to surround sound.
