Mac Mini Mediacenter Audio Out Question/Issue

Hi. I'm sure this has been discussed, at least parts of it over various threads. So sorry for any repetition. But I'm looking to combine some knowledge here. I'm vexed by the audio out variables from the M3C.

My TV is a Toshiba regza 37hl67. It has no digital audio input, so I accept that I can't have digital audio from the mac mini.

My question is this: How can I run audio to both the TV and the stereo from the Mac Mini? Sometimes I'd like to listen to one or the other or both, but it doesn't seem possible without resorting to switching cables on the back of the consoles.

I've trialed Airfoil, but the delay on video is unbearable when I use anything but the Airfoil Video Player. That rules out sending audio from Plex, Hulu, Netflix Streaming to the stereo via Airfoil

I could simply leave the mini plugged into the stereo all the time, but then its impossible to play audio via the airport express from any other computer in the house.

Does anyone have a workaround or a bright solution to this problem?

Do you think there's appreciable sound loss in splitting the signal? That was my worry.

Ah I'm guessing that your stereo isn't just a reciever around your tv? Couldn't imagine a time when I'd ever listen to audio coming out of the tv speakers over the stereo...

Anyways, my TV has audio out (a lot of the TVs that i've used do, actually), that you could plug into the stereo, and just mute the TV, or from the stereo to the TV, my old stereo had outputs on the 'tape' setting, while the new receivers I have both have 1 and 2 speaker sets.

Not sure what type of stereo or tv you have, but personally I'd get a nice sound system for the TV that I'd alway perfer I'd over the TV speakers...

But the Y splitter should mostly just make the volume lower for both devices, depends on how much you care about sound quality, I don't think the quality hit would be massive, but I don't like listening to audio on TV speakers, so... Plus they're only a few bucks, so you could try one of you don't have any of those audio out plugs that I was talking about.
 
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for taking the time to offer some suggestions. I'm going to try the Y-Cable.

As it is, I'm having trouble getting the sound coming from Eye-TV to be as loud as the rest of the sources I use. Indeed, I could just forgo tv sound altogether, it's just that sometimes its an odd sensation when the sound I'm hearing isn't coming straight from the object my eyes are trained upon. Maybe it just takes some getting used to.

I will say that I find Airfoil to be quite limited. I'm not sure I really understand all the raves about it. The delay across so many platforms is just a pain to work around.
