Hi guys,

Yesterday I upgraded the memory with a KVR800D2s6/2G Kingston (2GB PC2-6400 CL6 200-Pin SODIMM) 1.8v. I only changed the first slot with this (the original was a 512mb). Everything went well. I opened about this Mac and see that the memory is 2.5gb. I even did an Adobe illustrator document and worked with it for an hour which was running smoothly. The next day when I turned on my computer it boot and loads everything but after a few minutes a popup screen came and says need to restart hold on power button etc..and every time I restarted this message always came. So I put back the old 512 memory and everything went back to normal. My question is why did it run smoothly on the first test (With Adobe Illustrator)? Please check below for my specs.

Model Name: Mac mini
Model Identifier: Macmini2,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 1.83 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 2 MB
Memory: 1 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz
Boot ROM Version: MM21.009A.B00
SMC Version (system): 1.19f2

Thanks!

Well, KVR Kingston modules are not the best modules available in the market. They are high-latency ones and usually not recommended - at least for the newer Minis (i.e. 2010+ Unibody ones). Try to get two KVR modules with the same size and check if the problem persists. If yes, try low-latency modules of the same model and size.

I'm pairing it now with a KVR800D2N6/2G-SP. The other is a KVR800D2S6/2G would this matter?
