hi. my first post so i hope i dont say anything stupid!

I have the first mac mini, the 1.25ghz g4. The reason i bought this second hand is so i can get used to the mac operating system before i go ahead and get a new one.
It came with the original 256mb which although it runs stuff ok, youtube is jumpy. I went and bought 1gb of memory from an ebay supplier. It is ddr1 333mhz pc2700. I installed it this morning and it works but it comes up with 512mb ram? before i send the memory back is there anything i have done wrong or is this a normal fault? anything else i should think of?
thanks

Probably due to the Mac Mini only recognizing 512mb. Maybe you can't have more than 512mb of ram in those old G4 models.

You bought a high density memory stick. PowerPC G4 Macs can only use low density ram ram. If you put in high density, it'll show up as being half as big. That Mac Mini can take and use 1Gb of ram, but it must be a low density stick.
