I have a new Mac Mini. I have the mini display port to dvi adapter that came with it. I want to connect to Samsung monitor with a dvi-d port. My problem is that I can't find a dvi-d cable shorter than 6'. Since the Mac Mini sits on my desk next to the monitor, I would like to have a short cable or one that would go directly from the computer to the monitor without an intervening 6' long cable. Anyone know where I can get one?

Monoprice has 3' DVI-D cables. Alternatively, it looks like they also offer a Mini DisplayPort to DVI cable, also 3'. I haven't heard of anyone using the latter cable (it's backordered, so it may be a new product). Since you already have the adapter, I'd stick with a regular DVI cable.
go with the mini-dvi to dvi, mini display port conversion is a little sketchy still. my mini displayport to vga adapter from monoprice has it's little quirks that you just don't need to worry with.
After rereading your post, I realized you have probably misidentified your adapter. The adapter that comes with current Mac Minis is mini-DVI to DVI, not mini DP to DVI. Too many miniaturized ports.
My advice remains the same. Stick with a regular DVI cable.

). It is a mini-DVI to DVI.As luck would have, I finally found a 10" DVI-D cable at Blue Jeans Cable [bluejeanscable.com] for the "outrageous"
price of 8 bucks. I ordered it and they have already shipped it. This should be perfect for my purposes. Too bad it didn't come in white (maybe I can paint it).Thanks for the help, and if anyone needs cables, check out Blue Jeans Cable,, they seem to have a wide selection, and their service was very prompt.
