I would think so, I am hoping so as ill be doing that when i get my mac mini. If i do get one.
It should work, but for non-standard computer resolutions such as 1920x1080 you may need to use a bit of freeware called SwitchResX to create that resolution.
I've tried this, and it does not work.
The mini-DVI to DVI adapter is DVI-D and only passes the digital portion of the signal through. To use the DVI to VGA adapter, you'd need the analog portion of the signal. There are some DVI ports (DVI-I) that also pass the analog signal (hence the usefulness of the DVI to VGA adapter), but this is not one of them. If you look at the output side of the mini-DVI to DVI adapter you will see that it is only DVI-D (digital only), not DVI-I (both digital and analog).

I drive a Dell 2407 (1920x1200) with my old mini, so the new one should work for your display as long as the mode line exists.
It depends on the monitor in question. The OP needs to establish if the Dell monitor they have has a digital or analog (or both) via DVI. If it is digital, then the Apple mini-DVI to DVI will work fine.
I was responding to a sub-thread that suggested stacking a DVI to VGA adapter onto the mini-DVI to DVI adapter. That will not work. In fact, the adapter will not physically attach, since a portion of the "cross" shape is missing from the DVI end of the mini-DVI to DVI adapter (indicating that there is no analog information).
Yes, the OP needs to determine if he has a DVI input, in which case he is fine. Or he can buy the mini-DVI to VGA adapter from Apple, if he only has a VGA input.
