I just ordered a 2.3 Ghz i7 Mac Mini. I was looking at monitor alternatives and then wondered why not just buy a 24, 27, 32" HDTV. The HDTV's appear less expensive than the computer monitors, have high contrast, good brightness, and fast response.

The Mini's max resolution is 1920x1200 so a 1080P HDTV seemed like a reasonable alternative, especially with the Black Friday sales starting in just one month.

Computer monitors often make good TVs, but the reverse isn't true. Some people get by with TVs though, but I'd never do it.
