With the introduction of the Mac Air and the ability to share ROM drives over the network I would love to see a new Mac Mini without a ROM drive. It would bring the cost down and could make room for other hardware or smaller form factor. I am thinking about putting one behind my flat screen at my bar as a another source for the flat screen. The new wireless keybds and mouse are no clutter for the bar top.

The second config I am interested in is a mac mini w/ blue ray dvd player. I would pay for that machine but if its not available I would just buy another PS3.

Maybe but very doubtful. The MBair is supposed to be a backup computer for someone who already has another. Mac Mini is a standalone desktop.

Not going to happen til the Mac Pro gets it, then the iMac. Not for another year or two, if the Mini lasts that long.

So you want all or nothing? I don't see the mini surviving without an optical drive and Blu-Ray is still very far off... especially for the mini.

The next update is still going to have a combo drive for the base model. I don't know why they just don't do away with the base model and drop the price of the top-spec mini. If they had one mini, costs would be lower.
