So with my recent 2012 Mac Mini I noticed iTunes will not recognize a blank disc inserted in the Asus external optical drive I have. The Mac will recognize a disc with music/video already in it in the finder and other apps, but no dice with a blank disc. iTunes gives the message "no drive or software found" or some form of that. Any help? Burning capabilities weren't revones for some reason from the Minis were they?

Have you tried other burning software outside of iTunes? Issue may not be with Mac OS/Mac Mini, but rather iTunes specifically or the drive itself.

Have not tried with other apps. I would but the damn drive isn't even showing up in the Finder window. It's pretty odd. It will show when a music disc or DVD movie is in it. But not with a blank disc. I know it sounds silly, but brand names don't matter do they? I have Memorex CDr's I'm tryin to use to burn music CDs

Have you tried to download VLC player? It's very simple and efficient to use.

Never mind. Found my issue. Didn't realize I did not by a DVD-RW. Instead only had a DVD-Rom....noob status. Thx anyway for the suggestions.
