Mac Mini on network?

Hello All,
Im a networking novice and wanted to know if this is a possibilty....

A friend has a bunch of Dell PCs on an V LAN [?] network.
Id like to have him use some Apples for his audio editing work.
Can the Mini be part of this PC network?

Generally, you just plug them in. Turn on networking. That's about it.
