mac mini on tv

okay so my family recently purchased a new sony 40" bravita xbr lcd flat panel hdtv (kdl-v40xbr1). it's is quite a beautiful television. anyways... it has a pc input on the back, which i've used to connect my powerbook to it on multiple occasions. the television has a resolution of 1366 x 768, and using my powerbook with bluetooth mouse/keyboard seems to function perfectly fine (no lag, etc.). recently, i've been trying to convince my family to get a mac mini for use with the television once we have our whole entertainment suite set up. my question is this: would the mac mini support the televisions resolution alright? i would want to be able to use frontrow (obviously) and perhaps safari/ichat if i invest in another set of bluetooth peripherals. i'm just concerned that the integrated graphics on the intel minis might not be enough to offer smooth performance for an entertainment system setup.

Well I couldn't find any info on what resolutions the Mini will output, but it will do 720i output (not sure what that means). Regardless it can connect to the PC port on the TV. the PC port is actually a regular VGA port, and the Mini comes with a DVI->VGA converter. So I think you'd be good to go with that setup. With a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, and FrontRow I think you'd have a pretty sweet setup.

EDIT: If your PB connects to it fine, then the Mini won't have a problem either.

no worries

I have my mini hooked up to a 27" lcd hd tv. looks flawless, so crystal clear. does the tv have dvi, thats what I'm using for direct connect to mini. composite looks like crape compared to vga and dvi.. so much higher resoluntion

check out avsforum.com and go mac section for hometheater computers. for the best advice.
