Mac Mini or Macbook Pro ?

I'm currently in the middle of buying either Mac Mini (12) or Macbook Pro 13inch (12)
So my question is this,

Comparing both base models, which one has better performance?
Also stability wise, which one will be more stable overall (like breaks less)
Can Macbook Pro good enough to use as a desktop replacement?
I'm thinking of installing SSD as well.
And overall, what do you guys think is a better option?

Here's my radical view:

If you're using it in a fixed location go with the Mini; if portability is needed on occasion, go with the MBP.

If you're looking for a desktop replacement, i'd also consider the iMac. But as stated by the post above, it all depends on whether you need portability.
