I was just wondering if the Mac Mini is capable of playing HD content that I get from iTunes. I want to either get an Apple TV or Mac Mini. I would prefer the Mac Mini because it has more capabilities, and External Hard Drives can be attached to it, BUT I don't want one unless it'll play the HD content.

Yep, I think it should play fine. I'm thinking of getting one just for this purpose.

You're not the only one. Right now I'm choosing between quad-core PC and Mini and use it as media server, video converter and torrent downloader. Maybe going for PC because then I can have multiple HDs and it converts videos a lot faster. I'm kinda tired for having 3 externals connected all the time because they are quite noisy

I was also debating quad core vs mac mini, the quad core blew it away. I'm currently able to convert a whole season of my tv shows in about 1 hour. (From avi to ipod friendly)

I convert .mkv files to PS3 friendly and 2 hours mkv movie weights about 14GB. It takes 15 hours for my Acer to convert them
