Mac mini price increase suggest no new model soon?

We're still far from 500 days, the usual cycle. So it is probably not on the horizon yet.
 
Mac mini releases.

500 is a stretch for an average.

Everything is here... Haswell processors, wi-fi ac, PCIe-SSD and Iris graphics. APPLE won't wait until 2014 to build a new Mac Mini....TB2 won't happen soon....I bet Mac mini is going to be updated in late Oct. 2013....maybe earlier / silently...

Apple normally decreases prices to get rid of old stock when it is due for an upgrade. Or at least tries to run the old stock out. Does this latest price increase (albeit apparently not in North America) suggest we still have a way to go before the new model?

When have they decreased prices before an update? Occasionally they'll drop prices a bit on refurbs, but I can't recall ever having seen items change in price due to new models until after the new models have been released.
 
Apple doesn't normally increase the price just before a refresh so I think next year is looking more and more likely for the next Mac Mini, though I hope I'm wrong.
 
Assuming this is only affecting the mini...

My guess is that mini production is moving to the US and they need to change the differential to account for a 'less forgiving' US exchange rate.

3rd party retailers in Australia (not the Apple store or apple online) tend to decrease their prices and move stock out. You're probably right though in that that price decrease is not an official apple price and probably done more on guess work and not official release dates.

Having said that, my main focus in the post was that official prices have increased which I have never seen happen before a release. I can't see apple increasing prices and then release a new model so I think the new release date is further off than most originally estimated.

Anyway it is all guess work. :)

Actually I have witnessed this, years ago I was in our only Apple retailer in town (London Drugs) drooling over a G5 iMac but not quite ready to pay the price. While I stood there fondling the pretty white thing the clerk came up and marked the price down by $500. Needless to say that was all it took, I grabbed it.
This was just before the newer iMacs, I think the model with a camera built in came out.

Higher Prices for Mac Mini? YES...

Everything "Made in USA" is more expensive than those "Made in China"...good and bad news together...

Late Oct. 2013 is the correct date....they don't need "new" technology.....why not NOW? ...they need "time" to build their products (Mac Mini).

Strange.... just bought a Mac mini here in New Zealand and it got supplied by the Sydney warehouse. Still the same price as when the Mac mini 2012 was released last year.

Just wondering aloud: Could it be the AUD-USD exchange rate - it is 0.93 now and late last year running at 1.045 (most international trade is settled in USD but it is gradually changing) (in other words 1000 AUD gives now 930 USD while last year 1000 AUD was equivalent to 1045 USD)

It's to do with the fact that Australian's can afford it I think. It has long been the case that even with the exchange rate and postage I can buy Apple products cheaper in the US. I have seen a few articles in local newspapers/magazines that Apple is ripping off Australians because of the wealth (very high wages) and low unemployment etc. It's common knowledge here. Even when the Australian dollar was on par with the US dollar (or even better), Apple products were far more expensive here even though the import from China is cheaper.

I hope....otherwise, "Made in USA" option is the most possible reason.

That's what I thought too until the unusual price increase. Part of me wonders if with the move to PCIe SSD the mini will get a redesign.

Price increase because of "other" reasons...

I will wait till late Oct.2013 to hear news for a potential Mini Mac update, otherwise, in Nov. 2013...I will order a "full BTO" 21.5'' iMac and that's all!

PS: I don't want 27'' iMac because of many reported problems with the IPS LG monitor...a "new" Mac Mini with a 27'' monitor ASUS or IIYAMA or EIZO (not DELL?) is a good option, too! :cool:
 
I think it's coming soon.

Apple's recent behavior has been to update soon after a new Intel microarchitecture is released. I wouldn't expect that to change.
 
If they wait until 2014, shouldn't they just wait for the Broadwell processors to be released?
