Confused regarding pricing on the 2 main models.

If you upgrade the basic model to a 2.53GHz and 4GB of RAM and 320GB HD, why is it so much more expensive than the second model with the same specs? I'm sure if someone did that, they would just give them the second model instead of upgrading the first one, right?

Aren't both machines the same anyway other than memory and processor speed?
 
They probably know that nobody would upgrade the low-end model to same as high-end one. Apple would lose profit if they decreased the BTO options prices because if someone might want 4GB of RAM but 2.26GHz CPU or 2GB of RAM but 2.53GHz CPU
