Mac Mini problem- after update

hi i have a 2012 mac mini i5 recently after the mavericks update i have been having a few problems. Usually i turn my monitor off when i want to grab a drink or whatever (force of habit) anyway i return turn on my monitor and every window i had open is now at the top left of the screen and has turned see through anyone else experiences these problems? Thanks
