Purchased a reburb Mac Mini fusion (2.3) with 4gb several weeks ago. All was well and bought 8gb from Kingston. Installed and all was well. After installing, computer ran well for many hours. Next morning, the computer was shut down for no apparent reason. Did not schedule a shut down. Searched the forum and unplugged unnecessary usb's and still shut down. Decided to check "never sleep" box and no problem since. Have run a ram test and all checks out.

Looking for suggestions to fix this problem or assurance that my bandaid fix is ok and will not lead to long term problems. Really don't understand what is going on!!!

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

It is entirely possible that your power flickered last night turning it off but resulting in real effect or things such as clocks which may have required a slightly longer power outage.

Best thing to do now is see if you can recreate your problem to rule out an equipment failure. Reset your Mini to the state it was in before it shut down, and see if the situation happens again.

At least then, you will know if a possible hardware (or software) issue may be causing the problem, and can take action from there. Or, if it was a chance occurrence with a power spike or momentary failure.

I guess it is possible for "lightning to strike twice", but not likely, so if your system shuts down, it may be worth looking into further.
