I upgraded my mac mini core2duo from 120GB to a 320GB hard disk. After upgrade, mac mini can't seem to read the disk properly and it shows the capacity as 2.3TB and gives an input/output error when I try to erase the disk.
It show correctly the description of the new hdd (WD Scorpio Blue) but there is no hdd to install MacOS after the boot of the CD installer.
Could I try to format the hard disk in an external bay and then to install it internally?
Or maybe I have to change the HDD with another model?

that problem indicates a bad hdd. Pull it and try to see if it will work on an external bay. if you can partition it i would be surprised. western digital has a good return program here is the link to return

it ;

thank you. I have a good returning policy on the shop where I bought the hdd, I'll change it with another one, maybe a 500gb one.

my hdd don't work. I put it in a sata bay trying to format it but no computer saw it.
today I'll change it with a Seagate one.

later edit> the wd didn't work. I changed it with a Seagate hdd and everything is alright. the computer could format the hdd and I installed the macOs on it.
