Hi,

Could anyone tell me the available resolutions on a Mac Mini using the S-Video adaptor.

I have a Plasma TV with no VGA or HDMI/DVI inputs with a resolution of 852 x 480 and I have seen reference to 848 x 480 resolution as EDTV in the Mac Mini documentation on the :apple: website, but not if I can output this resolution.

I am trying to find out if the Mini will output a nearly native resolution using the S-Video adaptor to my TV (WVGA?).

My display will accept an HDTV input (up to 720p or 1080i @ 50 & 60Hz) via Component only & downscale it to suit, so I have also considered using a scan convertor from VGA to Component as shown in this link.

Which would be the best way to get the Mini to display on my TV, S-Video or using the Scan Convertor. Or are there any other alternatives (without getting a new TV ). The mini is to be used mainly as a HTPC via frontrow for films and music.

I understand that normal text will be poor etc using this screen but it will have to do until I can upgrade later on to an HDTV. It is currently less than 2 years old, so I cannot (yet ;)) justify getting a new one. :(

I have already tried searching this site along with 123macmini, but have had no success so far.

Any info / help greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Steve
