hey guys, i've just got firefox running and playing a couple videos on youtube and my iStat is telling me that CPU1 and CPUA are both hovering between 80-85degrees. is this normal? i have a brand new Mini well ventilated and nothing is near it and the room is cold -- 20degrees or so at most.

i can't imagine what the temperature will be during the summer when temperatures will reach 35-40degrees.

Uh... you're not burning a square-shaped hole into your desk are you? The new chipsets should be able to function around 200 degrees F. YouTube generally makes my fans turn up high. Typical flash garbage.

Yes, it is normal for a Mac to heat up while playing Youtube videos. Assuming the operating environment where your Mini is will not reach 35-40 C you will be fine. Are you using your Mac Mini outside?

Celsius or Fahrenheit?

The title says "C" ...

Completely normal, your mini will shut down when temps are dangerously high (~105C). Flash is very CPU intensive, I'd suggest switching to HTML 5 if you haven't already

how can i do this?

----------

it just seems weird that it runs so hot. my dell laptop and even my old AMD 3000+ never get to these temps and they're much older. i know the Mini CPU is more powerful so it therefore will increase its temperature, but wouldn't advancements mean the temperature would go down?

Flash on Mac is buggy as hell. Always has been. Has been known to cause all sorts of issues in OS X.

i'm running firefox 12... i don't want to mess around with HTML5 since youtube says some videos aren't supported and fullscreen doesn't work fully. would i have a choice between flash and HTML5 on videos or would i need to restart firefox to change?

I'm using HTML5 on my MacBook and never had any issues with any videos at all......
