I'm considering possibly upgrading my current Mac Mini running OSX Server to a Mac Mini server and I had a question about restoring from back ups.

My current back up policy is to use Time machine for documents and once a month do a full backup to a separate external drive using SuperDuper. In the event of a crash(luckily has never happened yet) I just swap drives then buy a newer drive to use as the external backup.

Now with the Mac Mini Servers raid'd drives I'm wondering how that would work. Would the following work if I had to restore? Boot from external then use SuperDuper to copy the External Drive data to the internal hard drives? I'm thinking no. It's the raid set up thats throwing me for a loop.

What would your recommendations be for a Back Up/Restore policy for a Mac Mini server?

The Mac mini Server's drives do not come configured as Raid drives. Use one for your data, the other for Time Machine backups. Do your SuperDuper backups to your FireWire external drive.

Ahh, that makes sense. I don't know why I thought they were raided out of the box.
