As I wasn't able to find such a topic here: Is the current Mac Mini Server (2.0 GHz Quad-Core) fast enough for real-time editing in Final Cut Pro X? Right now, on my 2009 2,66 GHz C2D MBP it's next to impossible to edit 1080p-footage in a complex timeline with up to 8 video tracks, four audio tracks and up to two text tracks stacked - and this was just a four minute video!
I really need a machine for photo and video editing, and I favor the Mac Mini for it's compact size and it's price. As I already have a 24" LED Cinema Display with Keyboard, Trackpad, Mouse, etc., I don't really need an iMac (and I don't have too much place on my desk left
), so this would be the perfect form factor. Of course I would upgrade it to 16 GB RAM and a SSD. Is it fast enough to edit such projects?
And: Is it also capable of running Motion 5 in adequate speed?
Sorry, of course I can look at benchmarks (where the CPU is more than double as fast as my C2D) and the system requirements, but as for system requirements, even my MBP should be adequate for FCP X, which it clearly is NOT. So I'm most interested in experiences.
Thanks for your help!
