What's the point of having a Mac Mini Server? Can't you turn a regular Mac Mini into a server by installing software? Thanks

Obviously, it's Apple's response to the million user requests they've gotten for dual hard drive Mac Mini with Xserve pre-loaded . . . half a million . . . couple thousand? Maybe somebody left a joke request in the One Infinite Way "Suggestions" box. :D

I think there is plenty of point. You get the extra hdd, and you get SL server (which you would have to buy above the cost of the standard mini)

I'm personally looking into getting one soonish. I was looking at getting a second hand intel xserve but the cost and availability is prohibitive. The mini just fills a nice niche.

Granted if you don't have a need for something, it's pointless. But that can be said for everything.

I guess my question should be... What does SL Server do that regular SL doesn't..? I don't need an extra hd, so if I put SL Server on a regular Mac Mini, it should be the same thing, right?

and again about $200 cheaper then in the uk
you guys in the states are so lucky , what you pay for a new mac we pay for a 1 year old used one :(
and i dont look what you pay for the 27"i5 iMac you just pay $1999 for it here in the uk the 27"i5 cost $2600 that is unfair :( you pay the same money we get a 21.5 top model and you get a 27"i5
or in terms of mini we get the base model and you get the top model for the same price
