I just upgraded a Mac Mini to a 7200rpm hard drive and now copying things to it via the network are taking an insane amount of time. A disc image of 6gb takes 6 hours to copy... yet the drive is working fine for launching applications and downloading from the web still comes down at its normal speeds... am I missing something?

It's slow copying things from the network's Windows shares. I don't have any mac shares to try it from (wired shares).

The external hard drive hooked up through firewire is flying... I don't know why its taking so long for things to copy through the lan.
