I just received my 2012 Mini Server model with 4GB RAM and 2x1TB HDDs and I would like to start setting it up. It will only be used as a server (files, calendar, mail, contacts, TimeMachine to external drive, VM host, etc.), so I am hoping for some suggestions before I begin.

I have 16GB RAM which I will use to upgrade the server and I have a 256GB Samsung 840 SSD on hand. So how is it best used in a server?

--Use it externally for VMs in a USB/TB enclosure for VMWare Fusion
--Use it internally for a Fusion Drive

I do need to have access to the VMs and I do have a 500GB 7200RPM FW800 Seagate Go Drive, but I am not sure if it will be fast enough to access a Win 7/8 VM.

So for which Fusion do I use the SSD--for VMs for VMWare Fusion or for a boot drive for Apple's Fusion Drive?
