mac mini temperature - running hot?

I have a Intel 1.6Ghz Mac Mini that I upgraded to 2GB ram and a 120GB 7200RPM hard drive and now using Temperature Monitor (http://www.bresink.com/osx/TemperatureMonitor.html) I'm getting some really high readings
I get 169 Degrees F when the processor is running full load and 132 Degrees when idle.

Can anyone post their temps for comparison?

My core solo clocks in at 132f on idle (jynx), 165 on load. I wouldn't be worried. If you can't help yourself, check out this software:

It has unadvertised support for the Intel mins and I use it when rendering/coverflowing .

Is there any cause for worry?

Did you experience kernel panics or system instability?

What prompted this sudden concern in the running temperature for your Mini? Just curious because last time I checked Macs are not PeeCees

169 Degrees is what concerned me, my G5 runs at about 135 under full load. I don't want the processor to burn out just because I upgraded to a 7200 RPM hard drive... 169 just seamed high, does anyone know what the failure temperature would be?

The CPU should not exceed 100C, so you are in the safe zone. I you want, the fan control program listed above, does help. You can spin the fans about 500 RPM faster and you should see a nice drop in temp, without much increase in system noise.

You should be fine; I've never passed 145, but someone told me Mini's can withstand it up until about 180. THEN you can worry.

Why do they run soo hot compared to my G4 processor? I'm always 85 at idle and 115 at fullload. Is it the upped bus speed that the Mini has? Just an off topic question.

i would guess because its not as fast of a chip? or requires less voltage to run. lol i really dont know
