I've got an *old* Mac Mini 1,1 (flashed to think it's a 2,1) with the Core 2 Duo processor swap running on Lion 10.7.5 as my media center, currently hooked up to my TV via a DVI – VGA converter and a 3.5mm audio cable also plugged into the TV. I'm looking to purchase a new TV, but unfortunately all of the TV's I'm interested in only accept HDMI and Component signals. I have no external speaker setup to dedicate to the Mac Mini, and still want my audio to come through my TV speakers… so the dedicated DVI to HDMi cable is out of the question. How can I make this work?

My 2009 Mini is hooked up to my tv (Samsung 2010-ish vintage) the same way as yours but with dvi to hdmi and seperate audio. The tv has one hdmi port which can be used with external audio. I think if you check you should find a new tv has the same capability either via a specific hdmi port and/or via soft setup options on screen for external audio in.

Unfortunately the TV I purchased doesn't have any audio-in capabilities, aside from using the Component plugs. I ordered the item COrocket posted… will post back here tomorrow on how it goes.
