Ok I've go a Mac mini (Intel Core 2 Duo - 2.0GHz) Mid 2007 DDR2

What are my options for upgrading it?

I've checked out the crucial website and it's telling me I can swap the 2 memory modules out and change then for a pair of 1GB's taking me upto 2GB rather than the 1GB that's in it at the moment

Is 2GB the most it will take? I seen on youtube that a guy put 4GB into his but he won't comment if it really did work so I doubt it or crucial would have said

What other options do I have for it while i've got it stripped out? They won't take much better HDD so don't really see the point, unless it will take a SSD somehow?

Cheers folks

You can find specs on all Apple products with Mactracker.

Maximum RAM for your model: 3.0 GB (Actual) 2.0 GB (Apple)

That means you can install 3 or 4GB, but it can only actually use a maximum of 3.

put in a 750gb western digital scorpio black or a 500gb western digital scorpio black or even a 320gb western digital scorpio black. they have 5 year warranties the 320 and the 500 have been around very good drives read about them on newegg. also newegg has gskill ram a pair of 2gb sticks for about 65 bucks. I used to sell these on ebay made a few bucks adding the ram and the hdds

If you get two matching sticks of 2gb ram, your mac will access 3.3 gigs of ram plus you will get some video boost through the matching pairs.

Only if you get a matching pair of ram chips, btw.

You can as previous poster said, get a 500 or 750gig hard drive, which will also dramatically boost your speed. I have a 500gig 7200rpm hard drive (i think it's still listed for sale in Marketplace) that is nearly new for sale if you need it.

I have 2 of the same model Mini that you have. I fitted a matched pair of 2GB from OWC to both machines, and they work extremely well.
They have results of extensive testing which they conducted, on their site somewhere.

A quality SSD makes the Mini fly apparently. More than a few people have fitted them and report lightening boot speeds, applications load many times faster etc. etc. I am ordering my SSD soon.

I'll call crucial memory on monday morning and see what they say about memory for my machine

Nice little app that for telling you info on your macs potential

I'm wanting to upgrade it for sure now so think i'll do what I can with this then maybe try and buy the newer one this year so I can run some other software that this one isn't capable of doing fully

I'll try picking another older model up so I can give the kids this mini mac too so they have one each to save the fighting lol

Cheers guys and i'll let you know how it goes with the upgrade
