I have a previous gen C2D mac mini with the 1.83.

I also have Dell Laptop I will be selling, but it's running a 2.0ghz C2D. I feel like it would be a seamless upgrade, since the older mini has a socketed processor. Thoughts?

I'm going to throw in the dell's 4gb of ddr2 ram also.

edit: typos

the mini can be upgraded without much hassle, but do you know whether the laptop is socketed? Most laptops are soldered, aren't they?

edit: after a moment's thought, I think most dell laptops are M socket. you should be good.

I know it is socketed. I had to replace the motherboard on it once. I've been replacing components in these things for cash on the side for years. I'm just wondering if the socket are the same, but I can't easily find that info.
