I've recently connected a Mac Mini (Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0ghz, latest model) to my Samsung TV (LE52F96BDX). When first connected, the resolution was perfect - 1920x1080 @ 85hz.

A few days later I reorganised the cabinet and swapped from a 1 meter to a 2 meter DVI<>HDMI cable, then noticed the resolution was no longer correct. The Mini seemed to be outputting 1920x1080 but interlaced and NTSC rather than PAL, and the display no longer fills the screen, leaving black bars on all 4 sides.

Swapping back to the previous cable made no difference. I've also tried using DisplayConfigX and SwitchResX and can't get either to work.

Has anyone experienced similar? Know a way to sort it out??

Thanks,

Tom

I had a very similar experience. I purchased the 1.83 C2D Mini and built it while it was connected to my SONY SXRD 50" (KDS-R50XBR1). When the build completed i had an overscanned 1920x1080i resolution, but checking off Overscan made it look perfect. But after switching cables, i ended up with a shrunk down version of that res, and it was not even centered... it had been pushed down to the lower left hand corner. Trying the old cable failed. Rebuilding completely failed. And DisplayConfigX nor SwitchResX help because i cannot get a custom resolution to work on that TV (as described in this article: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=695206)

it seems as though the Mini itself is holding onto the handshake between itself and the TV. At least that's one theory. Is there a way to do some sort of factory reset on EVERYTHING within the box?
