Mac Mini wifi

Just got a 2012 Mac Mini and it seems like the wifi is having issues, dropping and staying offline until you reboot or toggle the wifi.

When connected it shows full signal, but it's pretty far away from the router.

Ideas?

Do you have any USB 3 devices connected to the Mac mini?

Just a wireless mouse

Seems to drop after a wake up.

Speakers near your mini? Any other metal objects nearby? Sometimes a slight move or reorientation will get you 8-10dB in signal strength.
Open up the App "Wireless-Diagnostics". Spotlight will find it for you.
Ignore the "Wireless Diagnostics" window that pops up, and select "Utilities" from the "Windows" menu.
Select the "performance" tab in the resulting window. That'll give you a continuous graph of wireless signal and noise, as well as SNRatio. Move your Mini and router around, and watch what happens. Chances are you'll find a sweet spot for your Mac.

This is probably unlikely, but I recall once having a problem connecting a tablet to my router. None of my other devices had trouble, but the tablet kept losing the connection. After pulling my hair out for a few hours, I checked out the router, and noticed that it had a firmware update available. I updated the router, and the problem disappeared...

If possible, run ethernet category 6 and connect it via a wired connection.

Faster.
Fewer problems.
