I have a cable modem + router setup and cannot connect to the internet via the mac mini (10.5.7). Thing is - if I take ethernet out of mini and connect my winxp laptop I have full internet connection. I can ping the router (192.168.1.1) from my winxp PC. If I plug the ethernet cable back into the mac mini (and restart the mini) I get no connect. I have set up the setting the same (IP address, server etc) as per the winXP PC and nothing. I cannot even ping the router (192.168.1.1) from the mini - either via the browser, terminal or Network Utility. I Know the ethernet connection has access to the internet because when plugged into my laptop I'm away - but when it is pluuged into the mac mini nothing; not even to the locally attached router. I'm new to macs - this is very confusing to me. Any help much appreciated.
