Last Friday I bought a Refurbished Mac Mini along with Applecare from the Applestore.

So, last Sunday I decided to also purchase a Apple Wireless Keyboard and a Refurbished Apple Express Router.

This morning I spoke to a Applecare Representative(AR) who informed me that my Applecare WILL NOT cover the keyboard or the Apple Express.

However, I pointed out to her that on the Apple.com Website it states, and I quote> "Airport must be purchased up to two years before your Mac purchase OR DURING THE TERM OF YOUR APPLECARE PROTECTION PLAN COVERAGE". She was not impressed and again stated that AppleCare will not cover the keyboard and Apple Express, however, that it does have a one year guarantee.

Any Applecare Experts out there??

Certainly no expert here, however, I had a HDD fail in my time capsule a few years back. It was covered by the AppleCare I had on the laptop I bought separately but in the same timeframe in which I purchased the time capsule. They shipped me a new time capsule.

Mac Mini with Applecare

Go to apple, navigate to http://www.apple.com/legal/applecare/appgeos.html Scroll to 3.2 and tell them to k... Off. I did the same thing and they denied keyboard exchange. I bought one and a week later read the terms. Printed it out and went back to store, got manager and in front of a full store of customers, explained that I could read, he couldn't and got my money back. Kept old keyboard, went to ifixit, followed directions, took it apart and it works now. Now if I could just get them to do that with My broken mini they refuse/ can't fix. A few years ago, you didn't have to argue with them, now you do, so be prepared when you walk in the store or call. And always remember: give them the rope, they will hang themselves and now you have the upper hand. Oh, and always navigate around the store to where all the new and/or customers are. It sucks to have to do it, but it works.

This is why I have a dedicated Apple rep. She knows the rules. I have only ever bought two items in an Apple store....One new AE and a MM. The new AE is covered under the AC on my new iMac. The store staff often do not understand the terms. It isn't always their fault...The training is poor in some locations. Stick with it and you'll get things fixed up.

I agree with you, I just haven't found that person. But what I really hate is when an employee cannot and does not know policies at his work place. The terms and conditions is not long and took me 5 minutes to read. While they are standing there not helping anyone, they could go on one of 50 connected devices, read the terms and still look like they are working to their boss. I'm just saying, ever been in a Best Buy to buy Mac? Or how about Home Depot, Lowes, etc. It is amazing how disinterested, lazy, stupid, and pathetic the new workforce is. I'm a contractor, do you know how much I have to know and remember? These people sell Applecare, it is basically generic for all machines it is sold for, a really easy read, just a couple of pages and no legalese. It's not like they are doing anything else anyway.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but does anyone know the rules on cover for a Mac mini under Applecare, with a Wireless Keyboard and Magic Mouse purchased before the Mac mini? I bought them 4 months before buying the mini.

There seem to be specific rules for the Airport (no more than 2 years prior), and a Display must be purchased at the same time. However, it's not so clear on the keyboard and mouse.

3.2 Covered Equipment

In addition to the Apple-branded product and accessories contained in the original packaging, “Covered Equipment” includes the following according to your Plan:

(i) Under APP for Mac, (a) one compatible Apple branded display if purchased at the same time as the Covered Equipment, (b) an Apple-branded mouse, Magic Trackpad, Apple Battery Charger and keyboard if included with the Covered Equipment (or purchased with a Mac mini), or (c) an AirPort Extreme Card, an AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme Base Station, Time Capsule, an Apple-branded DVI to ADC display adapter, Apple RAM modules and MacBook Air SuperDrive if used with the Covered Equipment and originally purchased by you no earlier than two years before the Covered Equipment purchase.
(ii) Under APP for Apple TV, an AirPort Extreme Card, an AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme Base Station and Time Capsule if used with the Covered Equipment and originally purchased by you no earlier than two years before the Covered Equipment purchase.

Cheers I read that, but "Purchased with a Mac mini" is a bit ambiguous. I bought mine with the Mac mini but not at the same time!

I guess the only way to find out is if I have a problem then try to claim through Apple.
