So this is odd. When I check system information and look at displays, my Mac mini says that I am connected to a 20.5-inch (1280 x 720) LG TV Display.

But this is a 55-inch TV that is also 1080p.

In preferences I have resolution set to Scaled and 1080p. I had to set the underscan at almost halfway to make the image fit on the TV. I'm wondering if this is because the Mac thinks the display is less than half the size it actually is?

I just picked up a 2012 mini i7 to replace my 2008. I had plans to hook it up via HDMI to my 32" Samsung along side my 2008 mini. No matter how much I fiddled with the settings I couldn't get it to work at a proper resolution. While it wasn't my first choice I ended up just buying a dedicated monitor. Plug and play. Works perfect.

This mini is being used for our HTPC, so the TV is the only choice for a monitor. Strange that this would be an issue.
