Mac Mini with no Monitor Question

I have my Mac Mini running as a server i want it to default to 1920x1080, I had to connect it to a monitor to get it run at this res so i can vnc to it, however when i restart the mini without the monitor it reverts to 1280x1024

how do I force my mini to a res without the monitor?

If you want to change it in the GUI you can use SwitchresX.

If you want to change it in the command line you can use cscreen.

If you want a hardware solution, you can get an EDID emulator.
