Ok so I have what I am going to assume is just a goofball question.

So the Mac Mini. Thats just a Mac with no Monitor right? All I need to do is buy a monitor and its good to go?
I am asking because my wife really wants to move away from her PC but she has a perfectly good 27 inch widescreen monitor. So if she could just hook that to the Mini she could save herself some cash.

Thank you.

You also need a mouse/trackpad and keyboard - doesn't have to be Apple brand.

----------

What’s in the box
Mac mini
HDMI to DVI Adapter
Power cord

straight from Apple website

Be sure to get the right connecting cable for the monitor. The one that comes in the box may work, or it may not. If it doesn't, try looking at monoprice.com for a replacement. I think "MiniDisplayPort to DisplayPort" is what you'll be looking for (depends on what connection ports you have on the monitor).

If it's a USB mouse and keyboard she has, they will work, just plug them in.

You -may- have to set the Mac OS to recognize a "non-Apple" keyboard (simple steps at startup, the OS handles this).

If the mouse is one of those with extra buttons (such as some Logitechs have), not all the buttons will be functional without some additional software. What you should try:
- USB Overdrive, or
- SteerMouse.

Consider buying a copy of David Pogue's excellent "Missing Manual for Switchers: Mountain Lion Edition." It has all the information you will need for transferring data from the PC to the Mini. It also explains the differences between Windows and Macs and a detailed guide to the Mac operating system.
