I have no clue if this is possible but I dont see why it wouldnt be. I have an HP laptop with vista and I hate vista but I dont want to feel like I wasted my money on the laptop so is it possible to buy a copy of mac osx and put it on this machine? Ive never heard of this done so Im not sure it would work.

No I dont think its wasting money at all. Ill be buying a mac here in april, I meant that I didnt want my hp purchase to feel like a waste of money.

Why is it illegal to put an OS on a computer? I wont be pirating osx I would be buying it from the Apple store. There must be something I dont know about here...

There is a way to load Windows on mac trough parallels, fusion, for example. Other way doesn't exist in legal variant!!!

Read the hackintosh sites and see if your machine meets the chipset specs for trouble free (relatively) operation.

However, like the rest of the unsupported hacks on some other Apple product -- you would be waiting on others to fix things for some OS updates.

Edit: you can do it, nobody is going to come after you -- unless you decide to go into business selling the machines with the hacked Mac OS installed. Pirate the OS and Apple karma can be rather harsh.
