What is expected to be included in this update besides just the isync? Thinking of more support for us intel users? Also, what is the release date suspected to be, because Im really excited for an update...


Any info/comments appreciated.

wow. i've never seen someone so excited for a free basic update. i'm guessing later this month because it's been a while since 10.4.6

Actually, Apple might make it so, that right and left click are directly enabled on all their intel laptops. It has a different sound and feel clicking on the right side of the button, which means a firmware update might make this.:D

Do you think they will have this for the 17" Powerbooks since I believe it's basically the same pad? The PB I have you can do the two finger scroll so why couldn't you do the two finger right click??

It may look the same, and it may be able to do 2-finger scroll, but it is not programmedt to do 2-finger click. A firmware update could do it for ya, but I doubt it will be done.:p

I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same pad as on the MBP. Also, since the trackpad can already sense that you have two fingers pressed the rest should just be the software interpreting it.

So technically I think it should be possible but I'm not sure if Apple would enable this on PowerBooks - would be nice though!

They must have had a later build of OS X. I remember reading the Apple forums a little while back and some ADC developer mentioned that this was in 10.4.7.

They should, since it's been available in the iScroll 2 driver for 1.33 GHz and earlier PowerBooks.

As far as 10.4.7 goes, I'm expecting the usual bug fixes, OpenGL speedups, and smoother operation.

Why be excited? What else do you get basically for free (yeah, yeah, $129) that makes your machine better?

That About This Mac screen would indicate a different build of OS X. Normally where you have "Build ...." you should see "Version 10.4.6" for final builds.

It's easy enough to add this functionality to the 15" MBPs in the meantime but 10.4.7 should add it too.

Try clicking on "Version 10.4.6" in the 'About This Mac' window. ;)

And that is the same build I have… :(
