Mac OS installer not booting

Hi everyone,

I have a weird issue with my Mac Pro 3,1. I can't seem to load the OSX installer. It just get stuck at the boot screen. It loads about 3/4s of the way then just hangs indefinitely.

I have tried this with a patched mojave Installer and an el capitan installer and both do the same thing. I have also put a drive on the sata bus with the installer on and it still does the same thing.

Interestingly though, if I place a drive with mojave/ el cap already installed the machine boots fine and works normally.

Any ideas/help would be much appreciated.
