Hi there,

Does anyone here know what Mac OS’s are compatible with iOS 13 for iTunes syncing (and if there’s a minimum iTunes version needed as well. I couldn’t really find a clear answer with online searches so I thought I’d ask here in case anyone can help:

I’ve just bought a lovely new mini 5 - as an upgrade from mini 4 so I can use the pencil for art.

The new mini is running iOS 13.1.1 (which I assume is iPadOS since it’s an iPad..???). Is there a way of syncing it with my mac which is running Sierra 10.12.6 (and iTunes 12.6.2)? And if not will it work if I upgrade iTunes (I was keeping it at 12.6.2 for an older iPad on an older iOS which I occasionally sync)?

Or am I doomed to having to upgrade? And if so, what Mac OS’s will support iOS 13?

Thanks so much in advance!

I guess if worst comes to worst I can install it on an external and boot off that when I want to sync. Just as well I haven’t updated my iPhone 6s from iOS12 yet… might have the same issue if I did.

Footnote: - the mini had iOS 12.3 installed on it, but I had to upgrade it.
I was restoring from a backup of my mini 4 (iOS12.4), and iTunes told me that the iOS (on the new mini) was too old to do the restore so I had to upgrade to iOS 13.

Also, the restore seemed to bring most things over, with the exception of only a few of the most recent voice memos, only purchased music (in the cloud) - nothing of my own (not that I use it much for music), and I had to retype my passwords for mail but that now seems to be working okay. Calendars, Photos and Contacts seem to be okay, I haven’t looked at everything yet, and so far 3rd party apps that I’ve checked seem to have brought across their files.

UPDATE - in case this is helpful for anyone - it seems that iTunes 12.6.2 may have been a little old to properly restore from (my older Mini's) backup to the new Mini with iOS 13 on there. After updating iTunes to 12.8.2.3, it then wanted me to restore the Mini, which I did, and then restored from backup - and now everything appears to be hunky dory. Glad I don't need to update the Mac OS as well.
