Mac OS Not Optimizing Space

Hi, I have less than 5GB of free space, and Photos won't start optimizing the photo library, even when that option is selected.
Anyone else seeing this situation?

You likely need more free space in order for it to run. If you run out of swap space the OS might start crashing. Best to free up some significant space (time to get an external SSD).

Thanks, let me try that. I was able to free up about 90GB of junk.
And I'm looking into Outlook, that for some reason is leaving all attachments downloaded, which adds up to 50GB of space.

consider moving some files to an external drive (confirm that! then delete them from your internal drive). then, once photos is ok, you can copy them back.

also, make sure to empty the trash and restart your mac...
